PAH Accounting sponsored A&B Cup winners Frome Collegians Reserves will go toe to toe with Chantry Digital sponsored Knockout Cup winners Warminster Town Reserves on Wednesday Evening at Bradford Town FC, as both teams bid for a second piece of silverware this term.
Seend United loss out in a thrilling 9-goal encounter at home to Melksham Town Development, FC Devizes United see off Bradford Town Reserves and Warminster Town Reserves get the better of near neighbours Heytesbury & Codford to join Frome Collegians Reserves in the semi finals of this season Spring Cup competition.
A solitary George Holland was all it took to give Frome Collegians Reserves a 1-0 victory over Seend United in the final of the PAH Accounting sponsored A&B Cup. Seend can count themselves very unlucky as they were denied by the woodwork on three occasions and some resolute defending from the Collegians back line.
With Seend United suffering a 5-1 defeat away at Bradford Town Reserves it meant that Frome Collegians Reserves who started the day top of the Spring Cup Group table, finished the day as the side who received a Free passage to the semi-finals where they will host either Bradford Town Reserves or FC Devizes United.
Matt Mead’s goal in the second half of extra time earned Warminster Town Reserves a 2-1 victory over Seend United in the Chantry Digital sponsored Knockout Cup Final.
With just a couple of Spring Cup Group Stage matches to go, the competition which was in danger of non completion a few weeks ago, is now back on track and should now be played to a finish.
With Seend United returning to the top of the Spring Cup Group table, they will have to see if it will be them of Frome Collegians Reserves who will get the free passage to the Semi-Finals. With the final standings, stating to take shape, the current quarter-final lines may yet change depending on the final set of results.
With Seend United dropping points at home to near neighbours Melksham Town Development and Frome Collegians Reserves beating Warminster Town Reserves, Karl Freeman’s Collegians side find themselves top of the table and in pole position to grab the free pass into the semi-finals of this season Spring cup competition.
A fourth straight win for Seend United has seen them rise to the top of the standings at Subsidiary Group stage.
Despite appalling weather conditions and fading light, two more matches of the ill fated Spring Cup were played on Tuesday evening, with credit going to all those involved for getting the matches played.
