After coming from behind in the previous round of this season’s Somerset Junior Cup, Frome Collegians Reserves produced another great escape as they came from behind to beat South Petherton and book a spot in the next round of the competition.
With just three Gooding Accounts sponsored Trowbridge & District League sides left in this season’s Wiltshire Junior Cup, it was left to Seend United, Semington Magpies and FC Devizes United to carry the flag for the league, however and annoyingly the Devizes fixture at Bowerhill against last terms beaten finalists D.I United was a casualty of a frozen pitch, but the good news was that both Seend and Semington won to book their place in the quarter-finals.
Trowbridge Town Tigers, Wiltshire Junior Cup journey came to an end away at Marlborough Town FC, whose 5-0 victory in the long overdue cup tie, means that the Tigers will retune to League action next weekend, rather than having another Junior Cup tie.

Gooding Accounts Ltd sponsored-Trowbridge & District Football League, Somerset based sides had a good day in their respective County Cup matches, Frome Collegians Reserves snatched a 4-3 victory over Highridge United Reserves while Freshford United received a walkover due to opponents Manor Athletic Reserves not being able able to raise a team.
With the weather again causing the loss of two Wiltshire Junior Cup matches, the league are now playing catch up, with both FC Devizes United and Trowbridge Town Tigers hoping that it will be third time lucky this weekend and they will get to play respective opponents Highworth Town Reserves and Marlborough Town. Nine-man Seend United were the toast of the town as the beat Wilton FC on penalties to reach the next round, while three late goals saw Hilperton Greyhound suffer defeat at home to Redlynch & Woodfalls.
Heytesbury & Codford crashed out of this season’s competition after they suffered a 4-1 loss to Bemerton Heath Harlequins Reserves from the Hampshire Combination League. Semington Magpies progress to the next round after beating fellow league side Bromham FC. With four more matches next weekend, there may be more sides joining Magpies in the third round.
The First Round of this season’s Wiltshire Junior Cup took centre stage this weekend and it was a good day for Heytesbury & Codford who saw off fellow league side Calne Eagles. Elsewhere, Warminster Town Reserves first ever venture in the competition ended at the first hurdle when they were beaten by Bishops Cannings FC
