KNOCKOUT CUP ROUND UP – 9th November 2024

Avon Valley FC 0 Semington Magpies FC 1

A week after they defeated their second division opponents Avon Valley FC 3-0 in the Wiltshire Junior Cup, First division leaders Semington Magpies FC faceed the same opposition in the second round of season’s Chantry Digital sponsored Knockout Cup.

Neil Taylor’s table toppers again emerged victorious, however they were pushed all the way by their hosts before claiming a narrow 1-0 win.

After a goalless first half it was Andrew Keithtley’s 84th minute effort that won it for Magpies to keep their cup hopes alive.


Bromham FC 9 Staverton Rangers FC 2

In what was expected to be a closely contested Knockout Cup tie between second division stablemates Bromham FC and Staverton Rangers FC it was anything but, as Bromham thumped their rivals 9-2 to ease into the quarter-finals.

A first half double for both Ben Child and Tobie Beattie gave Bromham a 4-0 half time lead.

If they tie wasn’t already over at the break, it soon was in the second period as Bromham surged 7-0 ahead. Frank Mubuta, Archie Harris and Caleb Englefield sharing the goals.

Jake Abbott and James Dark pulled a couple of goals back for Staverton before a Sam Archard own goal along with a Tyler Beattie effort made up Bromham’s 9.


FC Devizes United 8 Hilperton Greyhound FC 1

The all first division clash at Goatacre saw hosts FC Devizes United thump Hilperton Greyhound FC 8-1 to reach the final 8 of this term’s Chantry Digital sponsored Knockout Cup.

When the sides met back in August, Devizes ran out 3-0 winners, but Clive McDaid’s side were on top form as they coasted to an 8-1 win, with the game being over at the break as the hosts were 6-1 up.

Goals from Oscar Webster and Charlie Strickland put Devizes 2-0 up before Liam Lawes netted Hilperton’s consolation, after that the floodgates opened. Jamie Crump made it 3-1, Kent Kauppinen added number 4. before two more Charlie Strickland goals saw him complete a first half treble and give his side their commanding interval lead.

The goals may have dried up in the second half, but it gave Devizes manager Clive McDaid the chance to introduce himself and he duly obliged wit ha goal from the bench before George Bettles fired home the final goal of the contest.


Heytesbury & Codford FC 4 Durrington FC 1

Having disposed of first division’s Dilton Marsh Wanderers FC in the previous round, Second division, runaway leaders Durrington FC were looking to claim the scalp of Heytesbury & Codford FC, however their trip to Codford ended in a 4-1 defeat as for the first time this season they suffered a loss in a league competition.

Jordan Leverett and a Louis Cole penalty gave the hosts a 2-0 half time lead.

After the break a second from Leverett made it 3-0 and Dan Dicks added a fourth before Tyler Pavey scored the Durrington consolation.


Pilot FC 0 Calne Athletic FC 5

Calne Athletic FC who had already beaten Pilot FC 3-0 in their league encounter came out on top of their Chantry Digital sponsored Knockout Cup meeting, a 5-0 triumph at Bowerhill, taking Athletic into the quarter-finals.

A first goal for the club on his debut from Luca Constantino gave Athletic a 1-0 lead at the break.

The second half saw Athletic bag four unanswered goals which were shared by Ismail Basaran, Dan Croft, Ewan McConnachie and Max Sawyer.


Seend United FC 10 Trowbridge Wanderers FC 0

First division, Seend United, were way too strong for second division opponents Trowbridge Wanderers FC who held their own for the opening 45 minutes as they only trailed 1-0 at the break, before Seend’s greater experience came to the fore in the second half as they ran out 10-0 winners.

Olly Sterling scored from the penalty spot to give Seend their interval lead.

Charlie Waylen, Dave Percival, Paul Gittins, a second for Percival, and Matt Purdy made it 6-0 before number 7 came from Charlie Waylen.

Matt Purdy’s second of the tie made it 8-0 before Arthur Dolan scored the final two goal of the afternoon to make it 10-0.

Despite the final score line, Trowbridge Wanderers didn’t let themselves down as the battled and kept going for the whole 90 minutes.
