Semington Magpies FC 0 Holt FC 2
MAGPIES LOSE, BUT REMAIN TOP
When Semington Magpies FC defeated Holt FC 2-1 on the opening day of the season, not many people would have though that some eight months later Neil Taylor’s side would be top of the table and in with a chance of a top two finish.
Those chances were dealt a blow on Saturday afternoon when Magpies suffered a 2-0 loss at home to Nigel Tripp’s side, despite the defeat Magpies remain top with a 1 point lead over Frome Collegians, however defending champions Seend United are within touching of both teams as they have 5 matches in hand on both sides.
Matt Jones set up Harrison Fitzimons for Holt’s 14th minute opener and the points were wrapped up just 4 minutes later when Kieran Plummer scored from the penalty spot to make it 2-0.
Heytesbury & Codford FC 2 Hilperton Greyhound FC 3
GREYHOUND SHOULD BEAT THE DROP
Unless something goes spectacularly wrong over the coming weeks Hilperton Greyhound FC should be playing First division football next season. Already clear of the drop zone on goal difference, a 3-2 victory away at Heytesbury & Codford FC saw them move 3 points clear of Dilton Marsh Wanderers who along with the Stiffs occupy the bottom two places.
2-0 down at one point to goals from Jordan Leverett and Liam Gibbens, Greyhound fought back to level matters prior to half time, Kieran Green’s double restoring parity.
Rich Coleman popped up in the second half to fire home what was to be Greyhound’s winner.
