DIVISION ONE ROUND UP – WEEK 27

Holt FC 0 Seend United FC 4

Defending Gooding Accounts sponsored Trowbridge League, First Division champions Seend United FC overcame a potential banana skin to their hopes of retaining the title thanks to a 4-0 triumph away at Holt FC whose defeat saw Nigel Tripp’s side drop out of the top three and has ended any outside hopes they any have had of finishing top of the table.

Arthur Dolan gave Seend the lead on 27 minutes and a minute later the visitors had doubled their advantage, Kieran Higdon making it 2-0. The win for Seend was as good as confirmed in the 34th minute, Dolan, bagged his second of the afternoon to make it 3-0.

The goals may have dried up in the second half, but Seend confirmed all 3 points when Gary Higdon scored his 23 goal of the campaign to wrapped up the 4-0 triumph.


Dilton Marsh Wanderers FC 3 Semington Magpies FC 1

Although Dilton Marsh Wanderers FC had picked up 4 points from their previous two outings, they were expected to crash back down to earth when they visited Semington Magpies FC who started the day top of the table, however Wanderers ripped up the form book with a 3-1 win that saw them move out of the relegation zone for the first time this season.

Dale Rowland’s goal for Wanderers separated the teams at the break.

Wanderers who lost the previous encounter back in September 3-2 would have expected Magpies to throw everything at them as they looked for a way back into the game after the break, the revival never happened and it was Wanderers who struck the next goal which came courtesy of a second for Dale Rowland and the victory was confirmed when Luke Tree added a third for the home side.

Spencer Frisby pulled a goal back for Semington, but it was too be nothing more than a consolation as Wanderers had already had the points in the bag.


Freshford United FC 6 Hilperton Greyhound FC 2

A 6-2 defeat for Hilperton Greyhound away at Freshford United saw Darren Brewer’s side drop below their conqueror’s in the table

Freshford United were 3-0 up, thanks to goals from Dan Birleson, Dan Bond and Olly Tolcher, before Josh Lewis and and Lewis Coles on his debut got Greyhound to within the odd goal prior to the break.

The second half saw Freshford net 3 unanswered goals to claim their 6-2 win, Ryan Muirhead and Alfie Little both scored from the penalty spot Frank Greenhalgh claimed the hosts 6th of the afternoon.


Frome Collegians AFC 4 Heytesbury & Codford FC 0

Frome Collegians AFC bounced back from last weeks loss to Melksham Town Development with a 4-0 win over Heytesbury & Codford and their Frome Showfield venue.

Two goals in each half earned Collegians their latest win, Mike Pearson and Nathan Burrows scored the first half goals.

Ross Knapton made it 3-0, Heytesbury then missed a penalty before Josh Keay added number 4, for the winners.


Melksham Town Development FC 2 Warminster Town Reserves FC 2

Melksham Town Development FC and Warminster Town Reserves had to settle for a point each from their 2-2 stalemate at Melksham’s Oakfield Stadium.

Michael Reaney saw his 9th minute effort for Warminster cancelled out by Cameron Pearce who restored parity on 50 minutes.

Archie Newman fired Melksham into a 2-0 lead in the 73rd minute, however the hosts were unable to hold on for victory as Matthew Robbins bagged his second goal of the season on 82 minutes to secure a share of the spoils for Warminster.


The Stiffs FC 3 FC Devizes United 4

Zach Bruce had a debut to remember for FC Devizes United who overturned a 3-2 half time deficit to claim a 4-3 victory away at basement side The Stiffs.

Kian Fulford’s opener for Devizes was cancelled out by Steve Lewin. Zach Bruce regained the lead for Devizes before goals for Billy Simpson and Ryan Bullock gave the hosts a 3-2 interval lead.

Oscar Webster restored parity Devizes before a second of the after from the visitors debutant Zach Bruce earned the visitors to Shaw their comeback win.
