Semington Magpies FC 4 FC Devizes United 0

A week after they defeated Warminster Town Reserves 7-0 to book their place in the semi-finals of the A&B Cup, FC Devizes United took on First division joint leaders Semington Magpies for a place the final four of this terms Chantry Digital sponsored Knockout Cup.

In what was at times a highly charged and fiery contest that resulted in three red cards it was Devizes who prevailed at they fought their way to a 4-0 success.

With Magpies, Little Marsh pitch unplayable, the tie was switched to Goatacre and the new hosts Devizes as good as had the tie won in the first half as goals from Oscar Webster, Kamran Muhid and Kian Fulford gave them a 3-0 half time lead.

A second for Fulford saw Devizes complete their 4-0 victory.


Bromham FC 0 Frome Collegians AFC 9

Having beaten Staverton Rangers 9-2 to reach the quarter-final stage of the Knockout Cup, Second division Bromham FC suffered a 9-0 mauling at home to First division Frome Collegians AFC.

After holding Collegians for the opening 30 minutes, Bromham found themselves 3-0 down at the break through a Dean Caslake double and a Tom Brown effort.

After the break the floodgates open and Collegians netted 6 further unanswered goals, Tom Brown completed his hat trick when he added a brace to his first half strike.

Lewis Perrett, Harvey Lear, Joe Simenton and Elliot Smith shared the others for Collegians.


Melksham Town Development FC 3 Heytesbury & Codford FC 2

A week after Heytesbury & Codford FC suffered a 4-3 at home to Melksham Town Development FC in the quarter-finals of the A&B Cup, the sides met again at the same stage in the Chantry Digital sponsored Knockout Cup.

The match that was scheduled for Melksham’s Oakfield was switched to the Codford at the 11th hour and both teams along with stand-in referee Andy Bunting should be praised for getting the match played, Bunting stepping in 90 minutes prior to kick-off after the original referee was unable to referee due to the switch of grounds.

For a second week running Melksham had to withstand a late Heytesbury fightback to claim a hard fought 3-2 win.

Melksham who opened the scoring last week in the very first minute, were first to find the net again, but their opener came on 34 minutes, with Jake Dodge goal giving them a half time lead.

Archie Newman had the chance to put Melksham 2-0 up on 55 minutes, but saw his penalty saved by the keeper only to respond quickest with a diving header to atone for his miss and give the visitors some breathing space.

Heytesbury halved the arrears in the 80th minute, Connor Weatherbed’s goal making things more interesting. Melksham regained the two goal cushion when Josh Flynn netted on 88 minutes.

Heytesbury claimed a lifeline when Chris Steele scored their second in injury time, but just like last week, Melksham were able to see the final few minutes out to claim their spot in the semi finals.


Calne Athletic FC 0 Seend United FC 9

It was a case of David verses Goliath at Beversbrook where second division promotion hopefuls Calne Athletic FC hosted First division leaders Seend United FC and their was no fairy tale ending for the home team as they quarter-final tie ended up being a nightmare as they suffered a 9-0 defeat.

Gary Higdon scored the opening two goals for Seend, Arthur Dolan added another 2 before a goal apiece for Matt Purdy and Jamie Cunning gave the visitors a 6-0 interval lead.

After the break, Kieran Higdon made it 7-0 before a second from Matt Purdy made it 8-0 and Arthur Dolan added number 9 to complete his hat trick and the afternoon’s scoring.
