MELKSHAM WITHSTAND LATE HEYTESBURY FIGHTBACK
Mike Coll watched on, as his Melksham Town Development FC withstood a late fightback away at fellow Gooding Accounts sponsored Trowbridge League, Division One outfit Heytesbury & Codford FC to claim a 4-3 triumph and book their place in the semi-finals of the PAH Accounting sponsored A&B Cup.
Melksham had the perfect start and were 1-0 up inside the opening minute, Archie Newman, giving them the lead after just 17 seconds.
Josh Flynn doubled the visitors advantage on 12 minutes and although Louis Cole scored from the penalty spot to reduce the deficit for the hosts, they found themselves 4-1 down at the break as Tom Tanner netted on 32 minutes to restore Melksham’s 2 goal cushion and on the stoke of half time Archie Newman scored from the penalty spot to claim his second and Melksham’s fourth of the afternoon.
Melksham who held a 3 goal advantage over Bromham in the previous round, before almost throwing it away, must like making things harder than what they should be, as they allowed the hosts back into the contest.
Liam Gibbens scored in the 63rd minute, for looked as if it would be a consolation for the hosts, but when Louis Cole converted his second penalty in the 90th minute, it set up a few anxious moments for Melksham who were able to hold out for a place in the final four.
Holt FC 6 Trowbridge Town Tigers FC 1
NSIRIM STARS AS HOLT TAME THE TIGERS
First division, Holt FC proved to be too strong for their second division opponents, Trowbridge Town Tigers FC who they defeated 6-1 to claim their spot in the semi-finals.
Jacob Nsirim was the star for Holt as he helped himself to a hat trick, his first of the tie came on 12 minutes when he put Nigel Tripp’s side 1-up.
George White double the lead in the 26th minutes and a second for Nsirim a few minutes latter saw the villagers lead 3-0.
Jamie Ford’s 45th minute goal for the Tigers was just a consolation as the hosts helped themselves to 3 further goals in the second period.
Jacob Nsirim completed his hat trick on 54 minutes and late goals for substitutes Archie Robertson who scored from the penalty spot on84 minutes and Sam Robbins 88th minute effort sealed the 6-1 win.
Seend United FC 4 Durrington FC 2 – AET
EXTRA TIME JOY FOR SEEND AND HIGDON
Division One leaders, Seend United FC hosted Second division leaders Durrington FC in what sounds as if it was a classic cup as Durrington battle back from 2-0 down to take the tie to extra time before losing out to their hosts who thanks to a Kieran Higdon sealed a 4-2 win.
Durrington who defeated last terms A&B Cup winners Frome Collegians AFC in the previous round trailed at the break to a Jordan Evans goal.
Arthur Dolan doubled the villagers advantage before a brace from Tyler Pavey got Durrington back on level terms to take the game to extra time, where Kieran Higdon netted twice to get Seend over the line and into the draw for the semi-finals.
Warminster Town Reserves FC 0 FC Devizes United 7
SEVEN UP DEVIZES SEND TOWN PACKING
Mid table first division stable mates Warminster Town Reserves FC and FC Devizes United went head to head at Town’s Weymouth Street ground and with the hosts having already beaten Clive McDaid’s side in the league this term, they would have started the contest as favourites to progress to the semi finals, however Devizes who have found some good form of late, had other ideas as they ran out 7-0 victors.
Oscar Webster led the scorers with a hat trick, Louie Lang on his debut scored twice with Kian Fulford and Jake Hiscock with his first for the club, earned Devizes their spot in the last four.
