WILTSHIRE JUNIOR CUP – 14th December 2024

Bishops Cannings FC 7 HOLT FC 1

Holt FC crashed out of the Wiltshire Junior Cup after they suffered a thumping 7-1 defeat away at Wiltshire League First division outfit Bishops Cannings FC.

Holt fell behind on 38 minutes and trailed by the odd Tom Sharples goal at half time, however after the break the Trowbridge League side suffered their own Nightmare Before Christmas as Cannings ran riot.

Holt were 6-1 down before Joseph Bakali-Laughton scored their 85th minute consolation, leaving Cannings enough time to add a seventh and seal a stunning victory over their guests at Green Lane.

Harry Drewitt (3) and goals for Jack Spanswick (2) and his fellow substitute Oliver Barnes who scored once made up the winners tally.

HEYTESBURY & CODFORD FC 2 FC Abbey Meads 4

Heytesbury & Codford FC played hosts to Swindon Community League side FC Abbey Meads and it was the visitors to Codford who progressed to the quarter-finals of the Junior Cup as two goals in the final 10 minutes earned them a 4-2 success.

Heytesbury & Codford led via a Lewis Butcher effort but found themselves 2-1 down at the break, Etan Thomas restoring parity for Abbey Meads on 24 minutes and Leo Sarrenti Browner putting them ahead in the 39th minute.

Chris Bird levelled matter for the hosts after the break and with the tie entering the final 10 minutes it looked set for the dreaded penalty shoot out, but then Abbey Meads struck 2 goals in 6 minutes, Jamie Boam (83 minutes) and Seb Hantakaross on 89 minutes sealed the 4-2 win.
