MELKSHAM SEE OFF FRESHFORD TO REACH QUATER-FINALS
Melksham Town Development FC hosted fellow first division stable mates Freshford United FC in their second round clash in this season’s Chantry Digital sponsored Knockout Cup.
Having shared the spoils from their league meeting a fortnight ago, Melksham who fell 2-0 behind then, before scoring late on to claim a 2-2 draw, found themselves trailing after just a minute, before turning things around to claim a 5-1 win.
Dan Birleson saw his 1st minute opener for Freshford cancelled out by Kurt Baston’s 3rd minute equaliser.
Morgan Akerman slotted home on 10 minutes to give the hosts a 2-1 lead and they were 3-1 ahead after 18 minutes thanks to a second of the afternoon for Akerman. A goal in first half injury from Kurt Baston saw the hosts effectively put the tie to bed.
A Charlie Cooke own goal may have given Freshford a glimmer of hope, but his 54th minute effort was to count for nothing as Dean Kamunga’s 84th minute strike completed Melksham’s triumph.

COLLEGIANS PROVE TOO STRONG FOR CANNINGS
Frome Collegians AFC, who are the current A&B and Spring Cup holders travelled to second division Bishops Cannings Reserves FC bidding for a place in this terms Knockout Cup quarter-finals and the first division outfit duly obliged as they proved too strong for their second division opponents who they defeated 8-1.
Reece Craddock’s 3rd minute opener for Collegians was cancelled out by Alex Parish who restored parity on 21 minutes. Josh Keay on 36 minutes and Harvey Lear’s goal in the 38th minute gave the Green Lane visitors a 3-1 interval lead.
Aaron Baines, Lewis Perrott with a brace, a second for Josh Keay along with an Elliot Smith effort made up Collegians 8 goals.
