DIVISION ONE ROUND UP – WEEK 13

Hilperton Greyhound FC 3 Seend United FC 5

With Gooding Accounts sponsored Trowbridge League Division One, leaders Semington Magpies in Wiltshire Junior Cup action, it presented defending champions Seend United FC with the opportunity to reclaim top spot.

Andy Dyer’s side duly obliged, however their 5-3 victory away at Hilperton Greyhound was a lot closer than expected and it was a hard fought triumph as Greyhound who actually led 2-1 at one point, made Seend work for the 3 points.

Matt Purdy’s opener for Seend was wiped out by Louis Woolford, who levelled matters before Kieran Green put the Whaddon Lane club 2-1 up. Seend’s man of the moment Gary Higdon got the villagers back level before the break.

After the interval it was the Gary Higdon show, his second goal of the afternoon put Seend 3-2 in front. Higdon took his tally for the season to 16 when he made it 4-2 to complete his hat trick.

A second of the afternoon from Matt Purdy took it to 5-2 before Liam Lawes added a third late in the game for Greyhound.


Warminster Town Reserves FC 3 FC Devizes United 2

After a sluggish start to the season Warminster Town Reserves FC, have now gone seven matches unbeaten, their latest success saw them defeat FC Devizes United 3-2.

Warminster who were 3-0 up at the interval thanks to goals from Matt Robins, Jake King and Seb Hounsell almost undone all the hard work that they had done in the first 45 minutes as they allowed Devizes to stage a second half comeback.

Charlie Strickland and Guy Williamson scoring to get Devizes within touching distance of their hosts, who were able to hold out to claim all 3 points.
