Bromham FC 2 Avon Valley FC 2
POINTS SHARED AT NEW ROAD
Bromham FC had the welcome mat out for Avon Valley FC when both teams put their unbeaten starts in the Gooding Accounts Ltd sponsored-Trowbridge & District Football League, Second division campaign on the line at the villagers New Road base. Unsurprising the points were shared at the final whistle as the teams battled to a 2-2 draw.
Tyler Beattie drew first blood for Bromham, however his goal was cancelled out by Tristian jones who converted a Konrad Makowski assist on 10 minutes to bring the scores level until half time.
Bromham may have made a quickfire start to the first half, but the second period it was Avon Valley who were quickest out of the blocks and on 47 minutes Jones turned provider, as he set up Makowski to put the visitors 2-1 up.
Just like Avon Valley did in the first half, Bromham were able to fight back and they rescued a point thanks to Archie Harris who was on hand to restore parity that ensured both sides remain unbeaten to date.
Durrington FC 9 Pilot FC 0
TYLER PAVES WAY FOR DURRINGTON WIN
It was top verses bottom at the Bulford Barracks where early Division two leaders, Durrington FC took on fellow newcomers Pilot FC and Max Davies Melksham based side were probably expecting the worse from their trip to Salisbury. Full credit must go to Pilot who despite suffering a 9-0 loss never gave up over the 90 minutes, they were just beaten by the better team.
Tyler Pavey who scored five of the victors goals started the ball rolling. Kyle Paull making his debut for Durrington made it 2-0. Matt O’Brien added number three before Pavey scored his second of the afternoon.
Aiden Fitzgerald fired home his fifth goal of the season as he made it 5-0 and the first half drew to a close with Tyler Pavey completing his hat trick for 6-0.
The goals may have dried up for Durrington in the second half, but they still managed to score three unanswered goals, Tyler Pavey scored a further two to claim a quintet for the afternoon. The other goal being netted by Matt O’Brien.
Freshford United Reserves FC 1 Calne Athletic FC 2
CALNE COMPLETE FRESHFORD DOUBLE
Freshford United Reserves FC and Calne Athletic FC met for the first time just a few weeks ago and it was Calne who emerged from that fixture at Beverbrook with a commanding 4-1 win, so Andy Kemp brought in a few new faces to try and change their fortunes at Abbey Lane and although they were competitive in a tight game, Athletic emerged victorious by two goals to one.
It was Athletic who were the brighter of the two teams in opening period although neither team created a real clear cut chance of note until around midway through the half, Spencer Smart drawing a smart save from Freshford goalkeeper, Mike Little down to his left.
Both teams defences were in somewhat formidable form although the bobbly Abbey Lane pitch was not helping with the play in the final third which probably explains the 0-0 score at halftime.
The competitive nature of this fixture remained a constant throughout the 90 minutes but the second half did see the game open up and it was Athletic who drew first blood with 65 minutes on the clock, an inspired substitution by John McConnachie seeing Iso Basaran slam home from a cleared corner, fitting as Calne were showcasing their new away strip sponsored by Basaran’s company Class Barbers.
At the other end, Thomas Bull ensured that slender lead remained intact saving down low from Edward Little when he found himself through on goal whilst his dad Mike also excelling again in the Freshford goal keeping out a Spencer Smart drive destined for the top left-hand corner.
The next goal was crucial and it went the way of Calne Athletic when a goal kick from Bull was not dealt with and allowed Max Sawyer to slot home and give them a somewhat more comfortable lead to defend.
Their mettle was tested in the final stages of this match when Reece Mortimer latched on to a dangerous low cross to plunder home but Athletic’s defence held firm to pick up the win which sees them second in the table by virtue of goal difference.
Staverton Rangers FC 4 Bishops Cannings Reserves FC 1
FOWLE TAKES CHARGE AS RANGERS WIN AGAIN
With Staverton Rangers FC missing the services of manager Keith Dyckes, Tom Fowle stepped up to the plate for the visit of Bishops Cannings Resveres FC to Bowerhill and can be happy with the way his chargers performed as they claimed the spoils thanks to a 4-1 win.
A 7th minute penalty from Joe Savage got Staverton off to a flyer, however they were unable to build on the good start and were pegged back in the 36th minute as Harry Britten restored parity.
Cannings joy was short lived as just a couple of minutes after getting back on level terms, Josh Sheppard regained the lead for Staverton who then added a third in the 44th minute, Jake Abbott scoring to make it 3-1 at the break.
Joe Savage doubled his tally for the game when he scored the final goal of the afternoon in the 90th minute to seal Staverton’s 5-1 success.
Both teams finished the match with 10 players as Jake Abbott (Staverton) and Callum Garbutt (Cannings) saw red.
Trowbridge Wanderers FC 4 South Newton & Barford Hornets FC 0
RANSOME SHINES FOR WANDERERS
A week after they sent South Newton & Barford Hornets FC packing from the Chantry Digital sponsored Knockout Cup, Jake Little’s Trowbridge Wanderers FC had the chance to complete a quickfire double over the visitors to Studley Green Community Centre and his players duly obliged as the hosts ran out 4-0 victors.
Wanderers had to wait until the 44th minute before they broke down a stubborn Hornets defence, Ewan Balkwill scoring the all important opener for the hosts.
Luke Ransome doubled the lead when he converted a Ewan Balkwill cross on 65 minutes. Ransome then provided the assist for Ashton Buckland who added the hosts third in the 75th minute and another Ransome assist led to Ryan Stewart wrapping up the 4-0 win in the 84th minute.
