JAKE PUTS WARMINSTER ON THE WRIGHT TRACK
Old adversaries Warminster Town Reserves FC and Seend United FC locked horns in what on paper looked to be the pick of the matches from Week 5 of the Gooding Accounts Ltd sponsored-Trowbridge & District Football League, First division fixtures.
The two teams who played each other 5 times last term, were no doubt up for the clash and with Seend going into the contest unbeaten in their opening 4 games and Warminster yet to win a game, Andy Dyer’s Seend United and current champions were favourites to take the spoils, but didn’t account of the inclusion to the hosts ranks of Jake Wright who scored a hat trick for Phil Stockley’s side in a 4-2 success.
Seend who fell behind to a Cooper Brooks goals lead 1-0 at the break, but surged clear in the second period which became the Jake Wright show. Wright doubled Warminster’s advantage and then he made it 3-0 when he scored from the penalty spot.
Wright then sealed his treble to give the home side a 4-0 lead before Gary Higdon and Arthur Dolan scored what were just consolation goals again a Warminster side who finished the match with 9 players after they had both Ellis Humphreys and Joe Stockley sent off.

DILTON CHALK UP FIRST WIN
Freshford United FC who appeared to be out of sorts in their opening two matches since returning to the top flight, but back-to-back victories have got them moving in the right direction. Chris Birleson’s side were on the road at the Land Warfare Centre, Warminster, again a Dilton Marsh Wanderers FC side who were searching for a first win which came their way courtesy of a 3-0 success.
After neither side were able to break the deadlock in the first half, Henry Carter unlocked the Freshford defence to put Dilton in front.
Lee Handford made it 2-0 and the villagers first win of the season and first ever in the top flight under the management of Steve Wyatt was wrapped up thanks to a second of the afternoon from Henry Carter.
Holt FC 2 FC Devizes United 2
DEVIZES FIGHTBACK TO EARN DRAW WITH HOLT
FC Devizes United were another side who had made a sluggish start, before a 6-1 victory over Heytesbury & Codford and a last weeks 3-0 triumph over the previously unbeaten Hilperton Greyhound.
Standing in the way of Devizes claiming a hat trick of wins on the road were Holt FC who it would be fair to say haven’t hit top gear yet this season, however despite overturning a two-goal deficit, Devizes had to settle for a point as Holt after conceding a late equaliser to hold on for a 2-2 draw.
After a goalless first half Holt stunned their visitors by taking a 2-0 lead in side a minute. Harry Dunn opened the scoring on 57minutes from a Sam Robbins assist and almost immediately Dunn made his mark again as he doubled the hosts margin.
Devizes got themselves back in the game in the 78th minutes when Kian Fulford reduced the arrears when he slotted home from the penalty spot.
With time running out Devizes looked as if they had been Dunn over but for the second time they were awarded a free kick which James Stobart converted to restore parity for the visitors who were happy to leave Holt with a share of the spoils from a match they looked as if they were going to lose with just 15 minutes remaining.
Melksham Town Development FC 5 Heytesbury & Codford FC 3
FARRELL STARS WITH MELKSHAM TREBLE
With their own pitch at Oakfield unplayable due to the recent wet weather, Melksham Town Development FC switched their match to the home of opponents Heytesbury & Codford FC who had drawn 3 of their opening four matches, but lost out on this occasion as Melksham claimed a 5-3 win.
Chris Steele saw his first half 2nd minute opener for Heytesbury cancelled out by a first of the afternoon from Ollie Farrell that levelled matters for Melksham in the 46th minute.
Liam Gibbens regained the lead for Heytesbury on 50 minutes, but they were unable to maintain it as once Josh Davis restored parity for Melksham in the 57th minute the goals started to flow.
A second for Ollie Farrell gave Melksham the lead for the first time and they extended their lead when Farrell netted his third of the game in the 81st minute.
It was 5-2 on 87 minutes, Kurt Baston scoring to kill of their opponents who managed to have the final say on the stroke of full time, courtesy of a second from Chris Steele, to leave Heytesbury still looking for a first win of the season.
Semington Magpies FC 5 The Stiffs FC 0
FRANCIS HELPS FIRE MAGPIES TO TOP SPOT
Semington Magpies FC were one of four teams who stated the day in joint first place on 7 points. Neil Taylor’s side hosted basement side The Stiffs FC for whom life since been pushed into the top division by virtue of finishing last term in sixth spot has proved something of a struggle.
By the end of the day, with other results going their way, coupled with a 5-0 win of their own, Neil Taylor’s, Magpies side sit top of the table level on points with Frome Collegians.
Going up the slope in the first half at Little Marsh, Semington created several chances. But had to wait until the 23rd minute for Adam Mugondi to open the scoring.
Harvey Frisby added a second on 33 minutes with a powerful strike.
Gavin Francis got the Magpies 3rd on 50 minutes and a minute later added his second and Magpies fourth. On 63 minutes Gavin Francis completed his hat trick.
Credit to The Stiffs who kept battling with George Hartrey was superb in goal for the visitors.
Ben Avery had a great game in the middle.
Frome Collegians AFC 2 Hilperton Greyhound FC 1
BULLUS GRABS WINNER FOR COLLEGIANS
Hilperton Greyhound FC who kicked off the season with three successive wins have now suffered back-to-back defeats following a 2-1 defeat away at Frome Collegians AFC, whose victory means they now have a share of top spot with Semington Magpies.
An Elliot Smith goal for Collegians separated the teams at the break.
Josh Lewis got Greyhound back on level terms only for Ben Bullus to pop up with a winner for Collegians ahead of next weeks meeting with Holt where as long as they avoid defeat they with take over the number one spot in the standings.
