Calne Athletic FC 4 Trowbridge Town Tigers FC 3

NEW LOOK ATHLETIC EDGE TIGERS IN 7 GOAL THRILLER

In what would appear to have been a thrilling contest at Beaverbrook, Calne, after taking a 2-0 lead a new look Calne Athletic FC , formerly Calne Eagles, came from behind to take all 3 points from their match against Trowbridge Town Tigers FC who should be very proud of their contribution to an excellent match that Athletic won 4-3, but Tim Brown’s side will be annoyed that having taken a 3-2 lead they didn’t get something from the game.

Calne Athletic started the brighter of the 2 teams and Tigers found themselves 1-down after just 2 minutes when Ewan McConnachie latched on to a ball from the right hand side from Max Sawyer to calmly slot the ball home to put the hosts into an early lead and things got better for the home team as the doubled their advantage on 21 minutes, with previous supplier, Max Sawyer making it 2-0 after latching onto a free kick delivered by Max Half and delightfully lobbing the onrushing goalkeeper from the edge of the area.

Trowbridge Tigers got themselves back in the game on prior to half time, winning a penalty and although Sam Peacock managed to get his fingertips to the resulting spot kick to turn the effort onto the post, Sam Parker Gale reacted quickest to net the rebound and breath new life into the visitors.

The score remained 2-1 until halftime.

After the break, Tigers got themselves back on level terms almost immediately with Callum McNamee restoring parity to make it 2-each.

From 2-0 down the Tigers completed the turnaround when Liam Pritchard put them into a 3-2 lead, however Calne Athletic showed their new found fighting spirit and thanks to Ewan McConnachie they turned the game on it’s head to claim a remarkable victory from a game they looked to have lost.

McConnachie netted his second of the afternoon to level things as 3 apiece and then he bagged his third to complete a well taken treble, and more importantly it sealed a great 4-3 comeback win for John McConnachie’s side.
