DIVISION TWO ROUND UP – 27th April 2024

Dilton Marsh Wanderers 2 Semington Magpies FC 3

MAGPIES FIGHT BACK TO BEAT DILTON

Neil Taylor’s Semington Magpies were guaranteed fourth place in the Gooding Accounts Ltd sponsored-Trowbridge & District Football League, Second Division title ahead of their trip to Dilton Marsh Wanderers who themselves were seeking a victory that would see them finish the campaign in 5th place.

Despite being 2-1 ahead at one point in the game, Dilton were unable to hold on as they felt that a couple of controversial decisions led to Magpies overturning the deficit to claim a 3-2 victory to deny them 5th place above The Stiffs.

0-0 at the break it was Semington who took the lead vis Gavin Francis.  Carl Ledbury restored parity for Dilton and Dale Rowland put Steve Wyatt’s team 2-1 up.

Jedd Cooley got Semington back on level terms before a second from Gavin Francis earned Neil Taylor’s side a 3-2 win.

Hilperton Greyhound FC v Calne Eagles FC H/W

GREYHOUND DENIED SWANSONG BY EAGLES NO SHOW

Following their 3-3 draw against Trowbridge Town Tigers FC last weekend that saw Hilperton Greyhound see their hopes of pipping Freshford United to the Gooding Accounts sponsored Trowbridge League, Second Division title they were looking to enjoy their final match of the season at home to a Calne Eagles side they have beaten 4-1 a short while ago.

Instead of the swansong they were hoping for they could start their celebrations a lot earlier than they had expected as Eagles were unable to raise a team for the final match of the season, meaning that Greyhound picked up 3 more points which confirmed them as runners up to Freshford.
