FRESHFORD WIN BUT FACE

With Trowbridge Town Tigers FC unable to use their Woodmarsh pitch, their game was switched to Brown’s Park home of Division Two leaders Freshford United.

Freshford who regained pole position from Holt FC last week when they were awarded the 3 points from their game with Calne Eagles, extended their lead at the summit to 4 points, thanks to a 5-1 win over  the Tigers, however Chris Birleson’s side face an anxious few weeks wait to see it it will be the Gold or Silver medals they will receive as Hilperton Greyhound could still pip them to the title.

When they sides met earlier in  the season, the game resulted in a rare goalless draw and for the opening 45 minutes it was a case of de-ja-vu with neither team able to break the deadlock.

That changed in the second period and once Jake Hale had unlocked the Tigers defence Freshford raced into a 3-0 lead thanks to a goal each from Jordan Jenkins and Reece Mortimer.

Jack Milburn pulled a goal back for Trowbridge Tigers, however it was little more than a consolation as a Mark Maguire double wrapped up the all important 3 points for Freshford.
