KNOCKOUT CUP ROUND UP – 9th March 2024

Seend United FC 3 Hilperton Greyhound FC 1

REYNOLDS MAKES HIS MARK FOR SEEND

Hilperton Greyhound FC may have produced the shock of this seasons Chantry Digital sponsored Knockout Cup, when they disposed of first division Heytesbury & Codford FC, in the previous round, however there was no fairy tail ending for Darren Brewer’s second division outfit as despite giving a good account of themselves they saw their cup dreams end as they suffered a 3-1 loss away at First division champions Seend United.

Mark Reynolds who netted six in the quarter-final win over Bishops Cannings Reserves bagged the equaliser for Seend after Cori Brewer has put the Greyhound 1-0 up.

After an evenly matched opening half, Seend managed to get their noses in front for the first time, a second for Reynolds making it 2-1 before Tom Blackman added a third for Andy Dyer’s men who still have hopes of a possible quadruple.

BRADFORD BOOK SEMI-FINAL SPOT

Both, Bradford Town Reserves and opponents Frome Collegians Reserves  could have faced expulsion from this season’s Chantry Digital sponsored Knockout Cup competition, after they were unable to agree on a replacement referee for this quarter-final tie back in February.

Rather than eject both sides from the competition, which would have handed Warminster Town Reserves a walkover into the final, the management committee agreed for the tie to replayed which saw Ross Pugh hosts book a semi-final showdown away at Warminster, thanks to a 1-0 success.

After a goalless first half the deadlock was broken by the hosts, Harry Ledbury scoring what turned out to be the winner.
