Trowbridge Town Tigers 1 Holt FC 3

NIGEL TAKES A TRIPP TO THE SUMMIT

For the time being Nigel Tripp’s Holt FC side who re-joined the Gooding Accounts Ltd sponsored-Trowbridge & District Football League as the start of the season, have reason to rejoice after a 3-1 victory over Trowbridge Town Tigers have moved them 3 points clear of long time Second Division leaders Freshford United.

Holt maybe ahead for now, but with five matches to play and unless something goes seriously wrong, Freshford United will return to the top of the table next weekend.

For the time being Holt will make the most of their time at the summit and they will be thankful to Tim Brown’s Trowbridge Tigers side who with their own pitch at Woodmarsh unplayable made the switch to Holt’s High Street ground where the efforts of both teams to get the match played are to be commended.

Jordan Smith gave Holt the lead in the 20th minute from a Harry Gunning assist.  Trowbridge Tigers got themselves back on level terns on 29 minutes, Lewis Harford netting to restore parity and to take the teams into the half time break locked together at one-apiece.

Both teams saw chances come and go in the second period before Kieran Plummer who had come of the bench earlier in the half slotted home a 75th minute penalty to regain the lead for Nigel Tripp’s side.

Four minutes from time, Holt wrapped up maximum points.  Max Griffiths combining with Matt Goodwill with the latter scoring his ninth goal of the season to seal the 3-1 win.
