DIVISION TWO ROUND UP – 24th February 2024

Calne Eagles FC 0 Holt FC 1

HOLT CLAIM SHARE OF TOP SPOT

Another victory for Nigel Tripp’s Holt FC side, this time away at Calne Eagles means that the villagers have moved level with Freshford United at the Gooding Accounts Ltd sponsored-Trowbridge & District Football League, Second Division.

Holt maybe level with the long time leaders Freshford United, but with the latter having played four fewer matches than the former, and many more than the teams below them it is unlikely that Holt will finish in second place.

Matt Goodwill’s 78th minute winner from a Harry Dunn assist proving controversial as Calne believed that their keeper had been foul in the build up to the goal.

Aces FC 0 The Stiffs FC 5

STIFFS COMPLETE ACES DOUBLE

When the Stiffs FC hosted Aces FC earlier in the season the Trowbridge based took maximum points thanks to a 12-0 success, the reverse fixture saw The Stiffs triumph for a second time, although the 5-0 winning margin was a lot closer that the previous encounter, it was enough to keep the victors above their opponents in the standings.

Billy Wilkins-Pratt got the ball rolling for The Stiffs, Albert Flores made it 2-0 before Charlie Mowat netted to give the visitors to Bath University a 3-0 interval lead.

Jacob Davies made it 4-0 and a second of the afternoon from Billy Wilkins-Pratt completed the Stiffs tally.

Bishops Cannings Reserves FC 2 Semington Magpies FC 3

MAGPIES COME FROM BEHIND TO BEAT CANNINGS

In what would appear to have been a thrilling contest at Green Lane, Devizes, promotion chasers Semington Magpies FC came from behind to take all 3 points from their match against Bishops Cannings Reserves FC who should be very proud of their contribution to an excellent match that Magpies won 3-2.

Magpies found themselves 1-down after just 4 minutes when Ben Haffenden put the hosts in front from a Tyler Gibbs assist.    Cannings doubled their advantage in the 32nd minute, Jack Cross finding the net from a Szymon Raczek assist.

Semington Magpies got themselves back in the game on 43 minutes, Joe Whiteman setting up George York to breath new life into the visitors.

Magpies were back on level terms in the 51st minutes, Jay Muldoon teeing up Oliver Seviour who restored parity ay two-each.

Oliver Seviour then turned provider as he assisted George York for his second of the afternoon which turned out to the winner for Neil Taylor’s side who are very much in a three horse race for an automatic promotion spot.
