SEEND GIVEN ALMIGHTY SCARE BY MAGPIES
Seend United who had already claimed the Gooding Accounts Ltd sponsored-Trowbridge & District Football League, First Division title, remain in the hunt for a possible quadruple as them progressed to the quarter-finals of this year’s PAH Accounting sponsored A&B Cup competition, thanks to a 2-1 win over second division Semington Magpies.
With their own pitch at Little Marsh unplayable, the match was switched to Rusty Lane, home of Seend.
The division one champions led 2-0 at the break, thanks to goals from Jack Woolsgrove and Joe Lamb.
Although down, Magpies weren’t out of the contest and a goal from recent signing Gavin Francis got them back in the game on 47 minutes it gave them home of causing an upset, however it wasn’t too be as they were unable to breach the hosts goal for a second time.
FC Devizes United 1 Warminster Town Reserves FC 6
BOWDEN & MEAD DISMANTLE DEVIZES
FC Devizes United were another team who were unable to have the use of their home venue, so their PAH Accounting sponsored A&B Cup match was switched to Weymouth Road, home of first division stablemates Warminster Town Reserves.
Warminster turned in one of their best performance of the season as they booked their place in the quarter-finals thanks to an excellent 6-1 success.
Matt Mead gave Warminster the lead from the penalty spot. A second from Mead and a first of the afternoon from James Bowden gave them a healthy lead before Jordan Anning pulled a goal back for Devizes.
The second half belonged to Warminster and in particular James Bowden who added to his first half strike with three more to complete a four-timer and set up a meeting at home to Bromham FC.
Hilperton Greyhound FC 9 Aces FC 3
PROPERT ON FIRE IN GREYHOUND CUP WIN
The All second division PAH Accounting sponsored A&B Cup, clash between Hilperton Greyhound FC and Aces FC was a lot more one sided than it was expected to be as Greyhound who won an earlier meeting between the sides 5-1, ran out 9-3 winners against a team who were just below them in the standings and who had won their last 3 games and had been looking for a win.
Josh Propert was Aces destroyer in chief with a 5 minute treble before going on to claim a 5 timer. Propert who opened the scoring on 13 minutes, netted again on 14 and 17 minutes. Louis Cunningham made it 4-0 in the 24th minute, before Propert complete the first half scoring with his 4th in the 35th minute.
Luke Reed added a sixth for Greyhound before Ashley Poms pulled a goal back for Aces. Jack Morris netted a seventh for the hosts, ahead of Mike Little scoring for Aces.
Harrison Simmonds and a fifth of the afternoon from Probert made up Greyhound’s tally before Alfie Little scored the third of the game for Aces.
Heytesbury & Codford FC 0 Frome Collegians FC 3
COLLEGIANS COME GOOD IN SECOND HALF
The second of two top flight PAH Accounting sponsored A&B Cup, matches saw Frome Collegians FC turn on the style in the second half to end the cup hopes of Heytesbury & Codford FC who suffered a 3-0 defeat.
After a goalless first half Dom Walton fired Collegians ahead and he gave his side some breathing space with a second before Harvey Lear wrapped up the victory when he scored from the penalty spot.
