WILTSHIRE JUNIOR CUP – 6th January 2024

Semington Magpies FC 1 Bratton FC 4

MAGPIES UNDONE BY WILKINS TREBLE

With their own pitch at Little Marsh unplayable and their opponents pitch also unable to host their Wiltshire Junior Cup quarter-final tie, Semington Magpies manager Neil Taylor pulled out all the stops to get their match with high flying Wiltshire first division outfit Bratton played.

Neil Taylor’s Magpies side gave a good account of themselves, but eventully lost out to Jake Packer’s Bratton side who progressed to the semi-finals after a 4-1 success.

In a first half of few chances with both teams cancelling each other out. It was Bratton who took the lead in the 44th minute, with Louis Wilkins scoring to put them 1-0 up at the break.
Magpies started the second half well with a Spencer Frisby pass finding Harry Thorne who finished well on 48 minutes to restore parity.
Spencer Frisby had a chance to upset the odds when he headed over from a Magpies set peace.
Bratton took control when they got their second on 57 minutes, Wilkins making it 2-1.
Magpies chased the game but got caught out on 68 minutes when Louis Wilkins completed his hat trick.
Max Bishop rubbed salt into the Magpies wounds on 83 minutes when he headed home Bratton 4th.
Great effort from the Magpies whose enjoyable cup run comes to an end.
