COLLEGIANS KEEP CUP HOPES ALIVE
Frome Collegians Reserves kept their hopes of a quadruple alive, already through to the next round of the Somerset Junior Cup and still in the A&B Cup and currently fourth in the Division One standings, Karl Freeman’s side booked a quarter-final spot in this season’s Chantry Digital sponsored Knockout Cup with a 3-1 win over Calne Eagles.
With their own pitch at the Frome Showground unavailable, the tie was moved to the Eagles, Beversbrook base and for a short time, Eagles were dreaming of causing a cup upset when they got back on level terms before being beaten by the experienced Collegians side.
Walter Bowen-Scholfield’s second goal of the season saw Frome Collegians take the lead, however the First Division side were pegged back when Karl Sharratt fashioned an equaliser for Eagles.
Tom Brown regained the lead for Frome Collegians and their win was wrapped up with a second half strike from Ben Bullus.
