Wilton FC 2 Seend United FC 2 – Seend United win 3-2 on penalties

9-MAN SEEND STUN WILTON WITH PENATLY SHOOT OUT WIN

Gooding Accounts Ltd sponsored-Trowbridge & District Football League, Division One leaders Seend United travelled to Dorset League outfit Wilton FC for their Wiltshire Junior Cup clash and Andy Dyer’s side must have been expecting the worse as the started the match with just 9 players before a late arrival took their numbers up to 10.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Seend put in one hell of shift as after holding their hosts to a 2-2 draw in 90 minutes they won the resulting penalty shoot-out 3-2 to set up a home meeting with either Spectrum or Purton FC in the next round.

Seend must have they were in for a long 90 minute when they fell behind, however their mood would have improved once Richard Hudson got them back on level terms in the 38th minute.

Wilton regained the lead in the second period, but once again Seend showed their fighting spirit as the dug deep and fashioned an equaliser, Jack Woolsgrove netting on 78 minutes to take the tie to penalties.

Successful spot kicks from Joe Clayton and Joe Lamb kept Seend in game before Jack Crowder scored the all-important sudden death winner.


Hilperton Greyhound FC 3 Redlynch & Woodfalls FC 5

GALLENT GREYHOUND SUNK BY LATE REDLYNCH REVIVAL

Trowbridge League, Second division side, Hilperton Greyhound suffered a defeat at the hands of Devizes Town Reserves in the previous round, however due to their opponents playing an ineligible player, Hilperton were handed a second bite of the cherry and with just 5 minutes remaining it looked as if they have taken the chance to progress further in the competition, but three very late goals Southampton League side Redlynch & Woodfalls turned the game on the head as from staring defeat in the face the snatched a 5-3 victory.

Jack Morris gave Hilperton the perfect start when he scored after just 3 minutes. Gavin Francis doubled the hosts lead in the 22nd minute, Redlynch managed to get themselves back in the game before half time with Sam Butt scoring the first of his two goal on 35 minutes.

A minute into the second half and Redlynch were back on level terms Kieran Osman making it 2-2.  Hilperton regained the lead on 67 minutes with substitute Josh Propert making it 3-2 from a Luke Reed assist and for almost 20 minutes, his goal looked to be the winner.

In the final 5 minutes, Redlynch didn’t just fashion an equaliser, they conjured up a match winner and the killed the tie with a third goal, Sam Butt, Kieran Osman and substitute David Hanna completing the smash and grab raid.,
