MAGUIRE MAKES HIS MARK TO SINK EAGLES
Gooding Accounts Ltd sponsored-Trowbridge & District Football League, Second Division, leaders Freshford United played hosts to a Calne Eagles side who went into the match as the only unbeaten team across both divisions.
Chris Birleson’s Freshford side did just enough to get the better of Tom Bull’s chargers thanks to a 1-0 success which saw them open a 7 point gap on their nearest challengers Semington Magpies and Hilperton Greyhound who were both in cup action.
The only goal of the game came courtesy of Mark Maguire, whose first half effort was the difference, between the teams.

HOLT PICK UP MAXIMUM POINTS AWAY AT SOUTH NEWTON
When Holt FC and South Newton & Barford Hornets met earlier the season the teams fought out what was an entertaining 1-1, the return match in South Newton saw Holt pick up maximum points thanks to a 4-0 triumph.
Holt who led 3-0 at the break took the lead on 13 minutes, Jordan Smith scoring the opener. Kieran Plummer made it 2-0 in the 37th minute and although Holt’s Joseph Bakali-Laughton though he had made it 3-0 in the 44th minute, his effort was deemed an own goal with Hornet’s Finley Kelly heading it beyond his own keeper.
The second period failed to produce any further goals until substitute Archie Roberston set up Samuel Kirby to score his second goal of the season and Holt’s fourth of the afternoon.
