MAGPIES FLY TDFL FLAG IN JUNIOR CUP
Having lost four Wiltshire Junior Cup matches to the weather, it remains to be seen how many Gooding Accounts Ltd sponsored-Trowbridge & District Football League sides will progress to the Third Round, for the time being Semington Magpies are flying the flag for the league after Neil Taylor’s Second division outfit defeated their First division opponents Bromham FC 2-0.
After a goalless first half, Semington finally made the breakthrough on the hour mark, when Harry Trevor set Harvey Frisby up for the opener.
With the tie in the balance, Semington finally put it to bed, Kyle Morgan-Hemmens netting after an assist from Devon Newbury-Hinds to wrap up a 2-0 triumph for a Magpies side for who Mutism Ibrahim was outstanding in midfield.
Although Magpies won the game 2-0 they were denied by the woodwork on a couple of occasions.
Heytesbury & Codford FC 1 Bemerton Heath Reserves FC 4
HETESBURY & CODFORD SUFFER EARLY JUNIOR CUP EXIT
Heytesbury & Codford exited the Wiltshire Junior cup after Hampshire Combination League outfit Bemerton Heath Harlequins Reserves beat them 4-1 on home soil.
Harlequins led 1-0 at the break and 3-0 before Kyan Lanfear pulled a goal back for Heytesbury & Codford, however his effort was just a consolation as the visitors to Codford added a fourth to run out comfortable winners.
Holt FC 0 Sherston Town FC 4
SHERSTON END HOLT’S CUP DREAMS
Trowbridge League, Second division side, Holt FC who received a walkover to the Second round of the Wiltshire Junior Cup, saw their journey end with a 4-0 home loss to one of the Stroud & District’s top Second division sides in Sherston FC.
Holt trailed 1-0 at the break, but were undone in the second half by the visitors who will be looking forward to what they hope will be a good cup run.
