EAGLES & DILTON SHARE POINTS AT BEAVERBROOK

After Calne Eagles FC dropped their first points of the season following a 2-2 draw with The Stiffs last weekend and following Dilton Marsh Wanderers surprise defeat against South Newton & Barford Hornets, the meeting of the two potential promotion hopefuls at Beversbrook was a must win match for both teams.  After 90 grueling minutes, neither team could fashion a winner as they had to settle for a point apiece from a 1-1 draw that keeps Calne in third place and Wanderers down in eighth spot.

CRAZY SEASON FOR ACES CONTINUES WITH THUMPING WIN

What is turning out to be a bizzare season for Bath based Aces FC took another crazy twist when they welcomed Bishops Cannings Reserves to this Sullis club base. In their opening 5 matches, Aces have suffered a 12-0 and 5-1 loss, but they have also captured a 7-1 success, so Cannings would have arrived in Bath not knowing which Aces side they were about to face, unfortunately for the visitors they came up against the one had the scoring boots on, as the hosts romped to a thumping 11-1 triumph.

Not for the first time this season, Aces when on fire and indebted to Junior Smart and today’s win was no different as Smart was the pick of the scorers with another 5-goal that took his tally to 14 in four appearances.

Junior Smart opened the scoring on 4 minutes and he regained the lead for Aces in the 16th minute after Samuel Jones had leveled for Cannings in the 6th minute.

Mike Little added a third for Aces and Lewis Baldwin netted his first of the game to give the hosts a 4-1 interval lead.

After the break the floodgates opened as Aces helped themselves to seven unanswered goals against their understrength visitors.  Junior Smart completed his hat trick, and added a further 2 goals for his five timer.  Mike Little scored a second, Lewis Baldwin took home the second match ball of the day when he completed his hat trick in the 85th minute.

Keegan Smart’s single made up Ace’s eleven.

Trowbridge Town Tigers FC 6 South Newton & Barford Hornets FC 2

TIGERS COMPLETE HORNETS LEAGUE DOUBLE

Trowbridge Town Tigers had already beaten South Newton & Barford Hornets 3-2 earlier in the season, so when they welcome them to Woodmarsh for the return fixture, Tim Brown’s side would have been confident of picking up a league double over their Salisbury based rivals and a dominant all round performance by the home team saw them do that as they picked up maximum points thanks to a 6-2 win.

Trowbridge Tigers opened the scoring through Will Bayley, Elliot Cadicott double the hosts advantage before a second of the afternoon from Bayley made it 3-0. Tigers extended their lead even further before the interval, thanks to a first of the season from Darren Hill.

Dan Peters bagged his first goal for the Tigers to make it 5-0. The Hornets rallied for a short while and the hosts were stung by a double from the visitors top scorer Tobie Keel, whose goals took him to 9 for the season.

Trowbridge ended any hopes of a Hornets revival when Jake Letteboer netted the hosts sixth of the afternoon to wrap up a comprehensive win for Tom Brown’s side.
