Andy Dyer’s, Seend United are the current leaders of the Gooding Accounts sponsored Trowbridge & District League, First Division, but it’s second placed Bradford Town Reserves who are claiming the plaudits after a 3-0 success over FC Devizes United saw them make it 3 victories from their opening 3 matches, and with those wins coming against Melksham Town Development, Seend United and a Devizes side who topped the second table last term, Bradford are no doubt looking to be the team to beat.

BRILLIANT BRADFORD END DEVIZES HOODOO
It was a case of fourth time lucky for a Bradford Town Reserves side who suffered 6-0 and 5-2 defeats in the league and a 2-1 Knockout Cup at the hands of FC Devizes United last term, so their 3-0 home success will been seen as a massive boost for the season ahead.
Olly Sterling gave Bradford the lead and a goal from Corey Pugh saw the hosts double their advantage.
A second from Olly Sterling gave Bradford a 3-0 interval lead and although they could find the net again in the second period, their excellent first half showing was enough for Ross Pugh’s side to bring an end to their Devizes hoodoo.

SEEND FIGHT BACK TO BEAT SPRATT’S CHARGERS
Seend United FC 3 Heytesbury & Codford FC 2
Seend United may remain top of the Division One standings, however Andy Dyer’s team had to dig deep before taking maximum points from Heytesbury & Codford who led 2-1 at the interval before suffering a 3-2 loss, against the team they had beaten 3 times last term.
Richard Hudson may have given Seend the lead, but the eventual winners trailed 2-1 at the break as Liam Gibbens got Heytesbury & Codford back on level terms when he scored from the penalty spot and it was left to Bradley Edwards to fire home and give the visitors to the Lye, their half time advantage.
The second period saw Seend put in a much better performance as they hunted for a way back into the game which came when Joe Clayton found the net to restore parity and the comeback was completed by Joe Lamb who made it 3-2 when he planted the ball beyond an outstanding Sam Spratt who put in another impressive performance but was unable to keep out Lamb’s effort which wrapped up the points for the leaders.

WHITEHEAD EARNS POINT FOR MELKSHAM

Melksham Town Development twice came from behind at their Oakfield Stadium base earn a 2-2 draw and a share of the spoils with Warminster Town Reserves.
Jake Owen put Warminster Reserves ahead, however his effort was wiped out by Baillie Nicholls whose first goal for the clubs levelled things as 1-apiece, but Melksham were unable to see out the first half without letting Warminster back into the game and when Cooper Brooks netted it looked as if the hosts who had failed to beat their opponents since October 2021, could be heading to another loss.
Melksham who are much improved on last season had other ideas and although they couldn’t claim a victory that would have moved them up to second place they battled back to claim a point when Sam Whitehead fashioned an equaliser for Mike Coll’s side who will go into next weeks’ match with leaders Seend United hopeful of getting something from the game.
