DIVISION ONE ROUND UP – 7th September 2023

Bromham FC & Frome Collegians Reserves were in action on Thursday evening.  The Gooding Accounts Ltd sponsored Trowbridge & District League First Division encounter that should have been played at Frome on Saturday afternoon, it was switched to midweek and played at Melksham Town’s, Oakfield Stadium, on the request of Bromham manager Chandler Davison who was missing a large part of his team at the weekend.

DEBUTANTS TOM & DON STAR FOR COLLEGIANS

Bromham FC 2 Frome Collegians Reserves FC 3

For, Frome Collegians Reserves it was the second time in a fortnight that they travelled to the Oakfield Stadium for a midweek match and unlike the first visit when they suffered a 3-2 loss to Melksham Town Development, this trip was more rewarded as they came away with 3 points following their 3-2 triumph over Bromham FC.

Both teams went into the contest having lost their opening three games of the campaign, however for Collegians it was recent signings Dom Walton and Tom Brown who proved to be the catalysts for their first win in the League since moving from the Mid Somerset League.

Frome opened the scoring through debutant Dom Walton and a second from Walton put the visitors 2-0 ahead before another debutant Nick Taylor pulled a goal back for Bromham.

On a night of firsts, Tom Brown who over the years has plied his trade with the Collegians first team, but was making his season’s debut for the Reserves following his move from the now defunct First team, netted to restore his team’s 2-goal advantage.

Bromham got themselves back into the game thanks to a second of the evening from Nick Taylor, however his efforts were in vain as Collegians held out to claim their first win of the season ahead of the two teams meeting in the reverse fixture on Saturday 16th September.
