DIVISION TWO ROUND UP – 25th & 27th APRIL 2023

BRADFORD REMAIN TOP, PARK UNITED & FC DEVIZES ARE CLOSING IN

The Lodge FC 1 Bradford Town ‘A’ FC 5

With a 5-1 triumph away at The Lodge FC, Bradford Town ‘A’ have finished the season on a high, the victory was a third on the spin and their 20th of the season, however despite reclaiming pole position in the Gooding Accounts sponsored Trowbridge League Division One standings they are likely to miss out on a top two finish as both Park United and FC Devizes United should move above them as the campaign reaches a thrilling climax.

After taking a 4-0 interval lead, Bradford had the points in the bag in a first half that they dominated.  A brace from Kieran Balchin took his tally to 12 for the season, while Lewis Baden’s double saw him finish with 15 goals to his name.  Olly Sterling added the fifth Bradford goal to leave him sandwiched between both Balchin and Baden on 14 goals.

Beau Blakeman was the lone marksman for The Lodge who still have three matches remaining, two of which are against title hopefuls Park United and FC Devizes, so although they can’t win the title they may yet have a say in who actually does.

FC Devizes United 5 The Stiffs FC 2

A very depleted Stiffs side arrived at Green Lane, Devizes expecting the worse against an FC Devizes United side who were expected to claim a comfortable win in their bid to finish the season as Division Two champions.

Devizes may have got the 3 points the wanted to close that gap on the leading clubs, however the 5-2 victory was too close for comfort, especially after the Stiffs who were 4-0 down at one point, replied with two goals to make things interesting before Devizes wrapped things up with a late goal.

Kassa Anderson, Cameron Lee, Oscar Webster and a double from Jordan Anning made up the Devizes tally, Steven Holloway and Tom Wilkes were on target for the Stiffs.

FC Devizes United 20 Staverton Rangers FC 1

FC Devizes United were in action again on Thursday evening, Evan Webster’s side were in deadly form in front of goals as a 20-1 triumph over basement side Staverton Rangers FC saw them boost their goal difference ahead of a potential title deciding match with Park United FC on the 7th May.

Oscar Webster had a game to remember as he helped himself to half of the Devizes goals, James Stobbart scored a hat trick, Brad Whitbread came off the bench to score twice, Declan McStravick, Carl Ledbury, Archie Haggerty, Will Coker and Dalton Bridewell added the others.

Aaron Macphie scored Staverton’s consolation.
