BRADFORD KEEP PROMOTION PUSH ALIVE
For a second successive weekend Park United missed out on a League fixture due to them being in Cup action and with FC Devizes United missing out on a fixture following the postponement of their fixture away at Dilton Marsh Wanderers due to a waterlogged pitch, Bradford Town ‘A’ were the beneficiary’s as a 4-1 victory over Bishops Cannings FC saw them stretch their lead at the top of Division Two of The Gooding Accounts Ltd sponsored Trowbridge and District Football League to 4 points from Park United who have played two fewer matches than the leaders.
BRADFORD TOWN ‘A’ FC 4 BISHOPS CANNINGS FC 1
In what was Bishops Cannings final game of their first season in the league they were unable to damage Bradford Town ‘A’s push for promotion as a 4-1 success for the hosts saw them claim a 16th win of the season.
Bradford took the lead through Lewis Baden on 5 minutes and when Olly Sterling doubled the hosts advantage in the 24th minute it looked as if the leaders would run away with the game, however that didn’t happen as Cannings defence wasn’t to be breached again until the second half.
2-0 up Bradford were given a real scare when Unissa Tarawally pulled a goal back for Cannings on 70 minutes. Any though of a Cannings fightback was quickly end when Olly Sterling scored from the penalty spot in the 75th minute to restore the host two-goal advantage and just four minutes later the points were confirmed thank to Charlie Barber who fired home to make it 4-1.
HILPERTON GREYHOUND 0 ACES FC 2
When Aces FC hosted Hilperton Greyhound back in October they romped to a 7-1 success, the reverse fixture may have resulted in Aces completing a league double over their opponents, however the result was a lot closer with the visitors to Hilperton taking all 3 points thanks to a 2-0 win.
Aces made a blistering start and the opening 10 minutes was when the damage was done, Reece Mortimer who bagged a 5-timer last weekend opened the scoring after just 2 minutes and Kegan Smart sealed the win when he found the net on 8 minutes.
TROWBRIDGE TOWN DEVELOPMENT 1 FRESHFORD UNITED FC 3
When it comes to playing Trowbridge Town Development, Three seems to be the magic number for Freshford United who after beating Neil Taylor’s side 3-0 back in October followed that success up with a 3-1 success away at Little Marsh.
Freshford had the match won in the first half as they raced to a 3-0 lead, Olly Tolcher scoring twice and recent signing Bill Turner getting on the score sheet with his first goal for the club to give Chris Birleson’s team the half time lead.
Harrison Simmonds pulled a goal back for Trowbridge Development after the break, but his effort was to be just a consolation as Freshford’s first half performance was good enough to see them over the line.
STAVERTON RANGERS 1 THE LODGE FC 3
A 3-1 triumph for The Lodge FC away at Staverton Rangers moved the Warminster based side up to third in the table.
Taylor Kitley netted for The Lodge in a first half that saw Haken Blackmore score for Staverton as they looked to upset the visitors to Bowerhill.
Second half goals from Matt Dyer and Taylor Kitley earned the Lodge the points over a team they had beaten 9-2 when the teams last met in October.
