BISHOP HAT-TRICK COMPLETES TROWBRIDGE COMEBACK
The much-postponed A and B Cup tie sponsored by PAH Accounting between The Lodge and Trowbridge Town Reserves finally got played this week with Trowbridge Town Reserves winning 4 – 2 and earning the right to face Seend United in the 2nd round of the competition.
The Lodge had the perfect start in a competitive cup tie, taking an early 2 – 0 lead thanks to strikes from Clinton Hartley and Lee Rockingham.
After eight weeks without a game Trowbridge Town Reserves took time to get into the game but their good approach work eventually paid dividends when they levelled the game before the break with two strikes from Max Bishop.
The second half belonged to Trowbridge Town Reserves and Harry Thorne completed the comeback with the third to give Trowbridge a deserved lead.
Max Bishop completed the scoring with a well taken penalty to send Trowbridge Town Reserves into the second round of the competition as unfortunately The Lodge seemed to lose all discipline, having two players sent to the sin bin for persistent dissent.
Next weekend Trowbridge Town Reserves return to league action as they travel to face The Duke.
After being knocked out of both cup competitions in their last two games, The Lodge will be looking to get their promotions hopes back on track with a home game against The Stiffs.
