HEYTESBURY EASE INTO SEMI FINALS

Trowbridge and District League side Heytesbury stormed into the semi-finals of The Wiltshire Junior Cup with a confident 5 – 1 thumping of Minety FC.

Heytesbury took the lead after 12 minutes when Reece Collyer fired home a penalty after Sam Wright was brought down in the box.

Four minutes later Heytesbury doubled their advantage when Liam Gibbens turned his marker and shot into the corner from 20 yards.

After half hour, Heytesbury thought they had scored a third but were disappointed to have the effort disallowed.

Heytesbury kept pushing forward and five minutes later Ben Howlett was cursing his luck when his effort from 25 yards hit the inside of the post to rebound into play.

A dominant Heytesbury finally made it 3 – 0 on 41 minutes when Liam Gibbens scored his second of the afternoon when he superbly lobbed the advancing goalkeeper after a Sam Wright throw in to give Heytesbury a 3 – 0 lead at the break.

On 67 minutes Sam Wright made the game safe when he fired home after being set up by Reece Collyer.

With three minutes left on the clock Adam Welch completed an excellent afternoon for the Trowbridge and District team when he made it 5 – 0 after receiving a pass from Myles Woodward.

Minety did managed a consolation goal with almost the last kick of the game.

Next weekend Heytesbury return to league action when they travel to face Division One defending champions The Duke FC in what looks to be a mouth-watering clash.
