After the freezing conditions disrupted last week’s fixtures in The Trowbridge and District Football league, the sub-zero conditions saw that only one fixture survived this weekend. In the last weekend before the Christmas break Division Two side FC Devizes took on Division One team Westbury United Reserves in the second round of The A & B Cup sponsored by PAH Accounting.

MILBURN STRIKE TAKES WESTBURY INTO QUARTERS
On the last weekend before the Christmas break and the only match of the day to survive the freezing conditions, a second half strike from Liam Milburn proved to be the difference, taking Westbury United Reserves into the quarter finals of The PAH Accounting sponsored A & B Cup with a 2 – 1 win over FC Devizes Reserves.
In a very tight match, it was Westbury who took the lead when man of the match Tyler Gane collected the ball fully 30 yards out and unleashed a strike into the bottom corner of the net.
Shortly afterwards, FC Devizes drew level when James Stobbart hit home a great free kick.
It was left to Westbury United Reserves to have the last word when Milburn delivered a ball into the area, that missed everyone and settled into the back of the Devizes net at the far post to send the Division One side into the last eight of the competition and ending the challenge of their Division Two opponents.
When football returns on 7th January 2023, Westbury United Reserves are in cup action again when they host another Division Two side, Dilton Marsh Wanderers in the second round of The Chantry Digital Ltd sponsored Knockout Cup.
FC Devizes will be representing The Trowbridge and District Football League when they travel to Alderbury FC in the quarter finals of The Wiltshire Junior Cup.
