DIVISION TWO ROUND UP – 26th NOVEMBER 2022

SATURDAY 26th NOVEMBER 2022

DIVISION TWO

HILPERTON GREYHOUND FC 1 TROWBRIDGE TOWN DEVELOPMENT FC 2

TROWBRIDGE UP TO FORTH AFTER VICTORY

A 2 – 1 victory for Trowbridge Town Development away at Hilperton Greyhound saw Neil Taylor’s team collect a third successive victory and complete a double over Jason Hughes side who they had beaten 4 – 1 earlier in the season.

The latest success for the visitors to Whaddon Road saw them jump to forth place in the second division of the Gooding Accounts sponsored Trowbridge and District League, however they had to dig deep to get maximum points as it was the hosts who opened the scoring.

Following a drab opening 20 minutes where neither team tested the opposing goalkeeper the deadlock was finally broken when what was the first effort of note for either team, Josh Propert fired home from 18 yards to give Hilperton the lead.

Trowbridge were on level terms 5 minutes later, Sam Franklin restoring parity when he fired home a stunning strike from 25 yards.

Following the two goals the game opened up, but with both defences on top and a lack of fire power for either side neither side could add to their first half efforts.

With the second half 6 minutes old, Harrison Simmonds netted what proved to be the winner for Trowbridge when he was on hand to stroke the ball home after keeper Gavin Francis spilled the ball to the awaiting striker.

Hilperton did have a couple of chances to take a point from the game both of which fell to Freddy Dixon, the first on 65 minutes saw him lash a shot wide of the target with only the keeper to beat and the second and even better one came on 83 minutes when he fired over from close range with the goal at his mercy.

Both teams played the game in a great sporting spirit and referee Ali Brewer had an easy afternoon in the middle.

Next weekend Trowbridge Town Development will be hoping to continue their good form when they host Bishops Cannings while Hilperton Greyhound visit promotion chasing Bradford Town ‘A’.

HEYTESBURY RESERVES FC 0 BISHOPS CANNINGS FC 5

CANNINGS END LOSING STREAK

Bishops Cannings emphatically ended their dismal run of nine games without a win in all competitions with a confidence boosting 5 – 0 victory over Heytesbury Reserves to lift them into eighth position in The Gooding Accounts Ltd sponsored Division Two.

Cannings spread the goals around and one each from Callum Howard, Robbie Johnson, Szymon Raczek, Oscar Shilling and Liam Carter ensured Bishops Cannings with a welcome three points.

Next weekend Bishops Cannings will be hoping to continue their good form with a visit to Trowbridge Town Development while Heytesbury Reserves are at home to The Lodge.
