QUICK FIRE DOUBLE SENDS FRESHFORD TO VICTORY

Two quick first half goals turned this Gooding Accounts Ltd sponsored Division Two match in Freshford United’s favour as they came from behind to beat The Stiffs 2 – 1 in a match that could have gone either way.
It was The Stiffs who took the lead when Tom Wilkes fired them ahead on 15 minutes after a good start from the visitors.
Ten minutes later, with the hosts on the back foot The Stiffs should have increased their advantage when after some good work on the right, the normally reliable Steve Lewin fired over the bar from inside the box to let Freshford off the hook.
Shortly after on 35 minutes Dan Birleson was brought down in the box and Olly Tolcher stepped up to convert the resulting penalty and level the match.
Two minutes later Freshford took the lead when Dan Birleson burst forward and fired high into the net to complete a quick turnaround for the hosts.
The second half was a goal-less affair with both teams unable to convert any chances as Freshford United held on for their fourth win of the season.
Next weekend Freshford United are home again as they host Bishops Cannings.
The Stiffs are also home as they welcome Park United to St Marys.
