SPRING CUP – SPONSORED BY GOODING ACCOUNTS LTD

After last weekend’s fixtures were disrupted by the weather, this week The Spring Cup – sponsored by Gooding Accounts Ltd continued with teams continuing their bids for quarter final places in all four groups.

GROUP A

FRESHFORD UNITED 1 POTTERNE FC 4

HUNTLEY HAT-TRICK SENDS POTTERNE INTO QUARTERS

Potterne FC made it five wins from five in Group A to stride into the quarter finals of The Spring Cup – sponsored by Gooding Accounts Ltd with a 4 – 1 win from their visit to Freshford United.

Ash Huntley led the way for the Division Two promotion winners, helping himself to a hat-trick.

Ben Mason was also on the scoresheet for Potterne FC with the fourth.

Kieran Boyle scored the consolation goal for Freshford United.


STAVERTON RANGERS v HILPERTON UNITED – AWAY WIN

HILPERTON UNITED AWARDED MATCH

Hilperton United were awarded the points in their Group A match against Staverton Rangers in The Spring Cup – sponsored by Gooding Accounts Ltd.

Unfortunately, Staverton Rangers have withdrawn from the competition.

The points mean that Hilperton United have qualified for the quarter finals alongside Potterne FC.


GROUP B

HEYTESBURY FC 4 SHREWTON UNITED DEVELOPMENT 0

HEYTESBURY QUALIFY FOR QUARTER FINALS

A sixth win from their six Group B games to date saw Heytesbury confidently qualify for this season’s Spring Cup – sponsored by Gooding Accounts Ltd quarter finals.

A Jake Wright hat-trick helped Heytesbury to a 4 – 0 win against Shrewton United Development.

In a tight opening half Jake Wright scored his first to give Heytesbury a slim advantage at the break.

In the second half Jake Wright added two more to complete his personal haul and Sam Wright joined him on the scoresheet to make it four for the afternoon.


MARSHFIELD FC v THE DUKE FC – AWAY WIN

THE DUKE FC AWARDED MATCH

The Duke FC were awarded the points in their Group B match against Marshfield FC in The Spring Cup – sponsored by Gooding Accounts Ltd.

Unfortunately, Marshfield have withdrawn from the competition.

The points mean that The Duke FC have secured a place in this season’s quarter final alongside Heytesbury FC.


GROUP C

WESTBURY UNITED RESERVES 3 THE STIFFS 0

WESTBURY MAKE IT FOUR FROM FOUR

Westbury United Reserves made it four wins from four games to remain top of a very tight Group C in The Spring Cup – sponsored by Gooding Accounts Ltd with a 3 – 0 win over The Stiffs.

First half strikes from Tyler Gane and Louis Wilkins gave Westbury United Reserves a 2 – 0 lead at the break.

In the second half Joe Wilkins added the third for the home team who remain a good bet to reach the quarter finals of this year’s competition.


BROMHAM OWLS 0 CALNE EAGLES 3

EAGLES CLIP OWL’S WINGS

Calne Eagles picked up their first win in this season’s Spring Cup – sponsored by Gooding Accounts Ltd and in turn halt the progress of Bromham Owls with a 3 – 0 win against their neighbours this weekend.

Goals from Jake Mizen, Jack Boyd-Cox and Joe Galloway saw the points go to The Eagles who now match Bromham on four points from five games to date in the group with both teams having an outside chance of reaching the quarter finals


GROUP D

SEEND UNITED 7 WARMINSTER TOWN RESERVES 1

SEEND UNITED KEEP UP SPRING CHALLENGE

Seend United remain top of Group D by a single point after a convincing 7 – 1 win over Warminster Town Reserves in The Spring Cup – sponsored by Gooding Accounts Ltd.

As usual Seend United spread the goals around the team with Ryan Nicholls and Mark Reynolds each helping themselves to a brace.

A strike each from Jordan Gullis, Jackson Crowder and Tom Rooney made up the seven for the Division Two Champions.

After four group games to date Seend have won three and drawn the other and will be feeling confident of securing a quarter final spot.

Max Ball was on the scoresheet for Warminster Town Reserves.


SEMINGTON MAGPIES 5 WESTBURY UNITED ‘A’ 1

MAGPIES KEEP PRESSURE ON

Semington Magpies kept the pressure on at the top of Group D with an excellent 5 – 1 win over Westbury United ‘A’ in The Spring Cup – sponsored by Gooding Accounts Ltd.

Matt Dyer and Alex Shaftoe led the way for The Magpies, scoring a brace apiece.

Ciaran Taylor also got in the act to score the fifth for Semington who sit second in a very tight Group D, a point behind Seend United and two points ahead of Bradford Town ‘A’ who never had a fixture this week and have played a game less than their rivals.
